Ultrasonography
WestCoast Vascular’s current ultrasound service is bulk billed to Medicare or DVA, provided we have a valid referral. Scans can be done on a Tuesday or a Friday in the Hollywood Medical Centre and alternate Fridays in the Wexford Medical Centre. Please note as we are a bulk bill clinic ultrasound appointments do fill up quickly.
What is an Ultrasound?
An ultrasound is a type of scan which records images and diameters of internal organs. All of the vascular ultrasounds are non-invasive and external.
What do I bring?
All you need to bring to an appointment is any previous scans for extra information. Most of the information will be on file if you are a current patient of Dr Sieunarine’s. You will also be required to bring your Medicare or DVA card to be bulk billed.
What preparation do I need to do?
There is no preparation involved for most scans. If you are having one of the following scans please fast for 6 hours, and no smoking or chewing gum for 2 hours before your scan.
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
- Mesenteric Arteries
- Renal Arteries
- Abdominal scan
- Ovarian scan
How long will the scan take?
Most of the scans take 60 minutes to 120 minutes. If it will be longer staff will advise you at the time of making your appointment.
Where are the ultrasounds performed?
Ultrasound and Doppler appointments are available at the Hollywood Medical Centre, Nedlands and the Wexford Medical Centre, Murdoch. Please see our locations page for specific address details.
